Rep. Watson Coleman Statement on CBO Score for Senate Draft of Trumpcare

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman released the following statement after the Congressional Budget Office released its analysis of Senate Republicans’ current draft of Trumpcare:

“How many times do we need to send these failed dangerous bills to CBO before Republicans end their obsession with stripping healthcare from tens of millions of Americans? No wonder this bill was written in secret - the latest iteration of Trumpcare continues this Administration’s abandonment of hardworking families, and the sick and older American’s in favor of making the rich, richer. By leaving 22 million more Americans uninsured by 2026, this bill is stamping the death certificates of our most vulnerable and those in the most need.

The bottom line was made clear today – this bill makes insurance unaffordable for the poor to fund tax cuts for the rich. Virtually every legitimate healthcare industry and advocacy group strongly opposes this bill. Our nation’s physicians, hospitals, patient groups, consumer protections groups, faith leaders and teachers have laid out specific examples as to how this ridiculous bill will destroy access to care, make Americans sicker, and subject hardworking Americans to higher costs. But yet and still, Donald Trump and his allies in Congress steam ahead on their quest to meet their hyper-partisan political promises at the expense of the welfare of the rest of us.
