Impacts of Cuts and Shutdown on Working Families in New Jersey

On Friday, I visited the Children’s Home Society of New Jersey. I met with mothers who rely on WIC and SNAP, caseworkers who go above and beyond their job descriptions to keep families connected to life-saving resources, and a leadership team who continues to sound the alarm - while not turning away any person who comes to their door for help. Democrats are working to reopen the government with a budget that restores funding and protects the programs that keep families afloat. Signing onto the cruel Republican plan would cement the Medicaid cuts and make this suffering permanent. I won’t do that. I came to Congress to fight for the people who are doing everything right and still find themselves one missed paycheck away from losing their livelihood. They deserve a government that keeps its promises, not one that abandons them in their time of need.
