Watson Coleman Statement on the Passing of Princeton Economist Alan B. Krueger
Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-NJ) released the following statement today after Princeton University announced the death of Alan B. Krueger, a professor of economics and former advisor to Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.
“Alan Krueger’s tremendous work has earned him a place among the most tremendous economic minds of our time. His legacy will be special because of its impact not just on academic study, but upon working people. From his groundbreaking study with Lawrence Katz and David Card on the impact of lifting the minimum wage, to his willingness to help with my own introduction of legislation to help older workers through the crisis of unemployment, his loss is a tremendous blow. His focus on data rather than simply theory, and his capacity to relate complex economic concepts to those without years of advanced study under their belts were incredibly special.
“I send my deepest condolences to his family, friends and the Princeton community, and pray for their comfort at this difficult time.”
