Watson Coleman Statement on House Resolution Condemning Anti-Semitism
Washington, D.C. — Today, Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-NJ) issued the following statement on the House of Representatives passage of legislation denouncing bigotry:
“I have always stood up for my values, and in doing so I have repeatedly denounced every ‘ism’ and phobia there is: racism, anti-Semitism, homophobia, Islamaphobia, white supremacy, sexism, and every other form of hate and discrimination. Each of these backwards ideologies endangers not just the freedom, safety, and opportunity of the group at which its directed, but the foundation of our democracy itself.
“We have now re-affirmed, again, our opposition to bigotry. It is time to get back to the business our constituents elected us to do: pushing for fairness in economic growth and prosperity, expanding voting rights, protecting the environment, preventing gun violence, expanding access to affordable, high-quality healthcare, and providing the check on the reckless, dangerous behavior of the President that Congress is constitutionally directed to provide. There is too much work to do to allow for any further distraction.”
