Watson Coleman Mourns the Loss of Pioneer Architect Michael Graves

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Ewing, NJ (March 13, 2015) ― Today, Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman (NJ-12) issued the following statement on the passing of Michael Graves, one of the most significant American architects in recent history and a Princeton, NJ resident for nearly 50 years:

“Michael Graves has left an indelible impact on New Jersey and the nation, and he will be greatly missed. Through a career that spanned teaching the next crop of bright minds, designing some of the most architecturally significant buildings in the nation, and using his outstanding talents to make the lives of the disabled a little bit easier, Mr. Graves remained steadfastly dedicated to doing what he felt was right. He earned a devoted following, a National Medal of Art, and a spot in the New Jersey Hall of Fame for those efforts.

“From international recognition as one of the New York Five, to his recent establishment of the Michael Graves School of Architecture at Kean University, both the structures and legacy he leaves behind will allow his memory to live on. I pray for strength and solace for the family and friends he leaves behind.”
