Reps. Bonnie Watson Coleman and Young Kim Lead World Thinking Day Resolution for Girl Scout Troop Capitol Hill
This week, Congresswomen Bonnie Watson Coleman (NJ-12) and Young Kim (CA-40), co-chairs of Girl Scout Troop Capitol Hill, introduced a bipartisan resolution to recognize February 22, 2024 as World Thinking Day and encourage Girl Scouts and girls and women to connect with one another, speak out on issues important to them, be good stewards of the environment, and make a positive impact in their communities.
The Girl Scouts’ 2024 World Thinking Day theme is “Our World, Our Thriving Future: The Environment and Global Poverty.” The World Thinking Day badge is the most earned award in Girl Scouts, with over 150,000 girls earning the award annually in the United States. It’s also the most earned badge by members of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, with over 1,300,000 participants in the last 10 years.
“Nearly 9 million people across the globe will celebrate World Thinking Day to elevate issues critical to young women and girls,” said Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman. “In 2024, those issues are environmental stewardship and global poverty. I applaud the millions of Girl Scouts that are effectively working together to create a future that prioritizes the planet and eradicates poverty so all young women can thrive.”
“Having women at the table across industries benefits our communities, our country, and our world. As one of the first Korean American women to serve in Congress, I want to do my part to uplift women and girls and ensure they feel empowered to make their voices heard,” said Congresswoman Young Kim. “I’m proud to serve as co-chair of Troop Capitol Hill and thrilled to be able to lead this resolution. Where girls speak their minds, positive impact will follow.”
