Rep. Watson Coleman Statement Regarding Updated Travel Schedule for June 2024
Today, Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman (NJ-12) issued the following statement regarding an update to her travel schedule:
“Last Friday I began experiencing pain in my lower back. I consulted with my doctor, who determined the pain was due to lumbar spinal stenosis, a condition in which the space between one’s spine and spinal nerves tightens, creating pressure and causing discomfort.
“Yesterday, I met with a specialist who determined the best course of action is an operative procedure. I am scheduled to undergo surgery on Monday in Trenton.
“I expect to return to Washington by the end of the month.
“While I will need to remain in New Jersey during my recovery, I want my constituents to know that both my district office here in Ewing, and my Washington D.C. office remain open and able to serve your needs.
“Regrettably, this means I will have to miss some votes. However, bills that I have co-sponsored, co-led, and introduced will keep progressing through the legislative process, and I will continue to introduce, sponsor, and support new legislation while I recover.
“In the meantime, I want to express my gratitude to my doctor and to the wonderful medical team at the Helene Fuld Medical Center of Capital Health. I am blessed to have access to such exceptional care.
“Thank you to my colleagues in the Congress for your patience as I recover, and thank you to my constituents for your understanding. I look forward to returning to Washington as soon as possible, and continuing to serve the people of New Jersey’s 12th District."
