Rep. Watson Coleman Statement on Tonight’s Continuing Resolution Vote, Calls on Colleagues to Vote Against Cutting Healthcare

Due to a pinched nerve resulting from a herniated disc that made travel impossible and at the recommendation of her doctors, Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman was unable to travel to Washington, D.C. to vote against tonight’s vote on the Continuing Resolution that passed the Senate on Monday.

While Rep. Watson Coleman was unable to get to Washington, DC in time to vote, she spent the day on the phone with colleagues, whipping against a so-called “deal” that would lead to millions of Americans losing healthcare coverage, including 26,000 in the 12th District.

“This bill will cost lives,” said Watson Coleman. “When health coverage rates go down, avoidable deaths go up. Every time Republicans force a vote on cutting healthcare, what they are really doing is voting to risk the lives of tens of thousands of their fellow Americans. Anyone who voted to end these subsidies has a hand in the deaths of thousands of Americans.”

Rep. Watson Coleman looks forward to being back in Washington, DC for next week’s scheduled votes and will immediately sign the discharge petition to extend the ACA premium tax credits and save healthcare for millions of Americans introduced by Leader Jeffries.
