Rep. Watson Coleman Named Co-Chair of House Democrats’ Jobs for America Task Force to Create Aggressive Jobs, Economic Agenda
Today, Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman announced that she will serve in a leadership role in the House Democratic Caucus Jobs for America task forces, a unified effort from the House Democratic Caucus to craft a real legislative agenda that will benefit hardworking Americans and middle-class families. The congresswoman will serve as co-chair for the Rebuilding America Task Force.
“I am proud to serve as a Co-Chair of the Democratic Caucus’s Rebuilding America Task Force and look forward to working with my colleagues to develop and advance solutions that get Americans back to work,” said Watson Coleman. “For far too long, Republicans have pushed the tired narrative that the only way to create jobs is to slash regulations, line the pockets of big business, all while ruining the environment in the process. Democrats know that the creation of good paying, high skilled jobs thrives with investments in energy efficiency and sustainability, educating and training our workforce, and establishing an even playing field for job creators. Our nation has been the leader in tackling expansive projects that create jobs and better our nation and it is time for the Congress to get serious about real solutions to live up to this legacy.”
The Rebuilding America Task Force will put Americans back to work by modernizing our nation’s infrastructure, expanding job opportunities in key industries, launching a school construction boom, updating our power grid and water infrastructure, and taking a visionary approach to the projects needed to put our country at the forefront of innovation.
The Rebuilding America Task Force is one of five Democratic Caucus Jobs For America Task Forces aimed at identifying opportunities and solutions for American workers in five key areas: Rebuilding America, Jobs With Dignity, Access to Jobs, New Economy, and Reinvesting in Our Returning Heroes. In the coming months, co-chairs of each task force will meet with business and labor leaders, issue experts, and American workers to develop policy goals and solutions that will benefit all Americans. The effort was launched by the House Democratic Caucus.
“Investing in our infrastructure is one of the most effective ways to secure high-paying, long-term jobs for the hardest-working men and women across the country. This effort will produce specific legislation that will rebuild our nation’s crumbling bridges and roads, build schools, and upgrade an antiquated power grid,” said House Democratic Caucus Chairman Joe Crowley (D-NY). “I’m grateful to Congresswoman Watson Coleman for her leadership in this important effort that will help spur job creation and strengthen our economy.”
