Rep. Watson Coleman Hosts Town Hall on the Inflation Reduction Act
Yesterday, Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman hosted a Town Hall at the Franklin Township Senior Center on the Inflation Reduction Act. She was joined by Matt Salton, Federal Campaigns Manager for the League of Conservation Voters (LCV), and Franklin Mayor Phillip Kramer.
The town hall laid out how the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) can help consumers and municipalities. It described the IRA’s impact on prescription drug prices, energy and consumer prices, and climate action. Included in the presentation was information on how individuals and municipalities can take advantage of subsidies, rebates, and grants for EV vehicles, energy-efficient buildings, and other programs set to come online in the coming months.
“I was proud to vote for the Inflation Reduction Act. It has already begun to cut costs for the middle and working class without raising taxes on small businesses or families whose income totals less than $400,000,” said Watson Coleman. “Instead, it relies on raising taxes on greedy corporations and the super-wealthy to rates approaching levels they were at before the 2017 Donald Trump Tax Scam. In return, the IRA will help build an America that works for working people and upholds standards of environmental justice.”
“The Inflation Reduction Act is the boldest climate action taken by anyone in the world and it's working to electrify New Jersey right now. It has the potential to lower energy costs and to lower pollution in this state, we just need people to learn more and take advantage of its tax credits to get things like solar panels, battery storage systems, or an electric car,” said Ed Potosnak, Executive Director, New Jersey LCV. “As the Inflation Reduction Act continues to be implemented, both by the state and federal government, we will continue to see new benefits for consumers such as point-of-sale rebates for energy-efficient appliances come online. We thank Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman for her continued leadership in protecting the environment and making things more affordable with her support for the IRA.”
