Rep. Watson Coleman, County Executive Benson Announce $4.1 Million Funding for Trenton-Mercer Airport Taxiway

Ewing, NJ (April 25, 2024) - Today, Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman, Mercer County Executive Dan Benson, Ewing Mayor Bert Steinmann, and Trenton Mayor Reed Gusciora announced that Trenton-Mercer Airport secured $4,116,279 in the most recent federal appropriations bill. 

A press conference was held today at the airport in Ewing, NJ. 

The funding, allocated throught he Community Funding Project and coordinated between Congresswoman Watson Coleman and Mercer County will support a full reconstruction of Taxiway A to provide the required pavement strength for the existing fleet mix. The project will also include minor grading, and airfield markings as well as turf restoration.

"The improvements to Trenton Mercer Airport will increase safety and reduce delays, helping to make Central Jersey a destination for travelers and inviting the rest of the country to experience this beautiful place we call home, creating jobs and prosperity along the way," said Watson Coleman. "As New Jersey’s sole appropriator in Congress, I take very seriously my responsibility to secure the federal resources New Jersey needs and deserves. I'm lucky to be able to work with such an effective local team in County Executive Benson and our entire Mercer County Commission as well as Mayor Steinmann and Mayor Gusciora."

“Mercer County is at a pivotal point and as someone who has spent their career as an infrastructure professional, we have a unique opportunity to position ourselves a as a geographic transportation hub,” said County Commissioner Chairman John Cimino.

In addition to Trenton-Mercer Airport, 12 other organizations and projects in New Jersey’s 12th District will receive federal community project funding. The projects include infrastructure improvements, youth programs, hunger fighting initiatives, and more.
