Rep. Watson Coleman Announces $400,000 Grant for Roadway Safety Action Plan in Plainfield
Today, Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman announced that the City of Plainfield has been awarded $400,000 as part of the Safe Street and Roads for All Grant. The award will help Plainfield develop its Roadway Safety Action Plan. The Safe Street and Roads for All Grant was included in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (also known as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law) passed by Congress and signed by President Biden in 2021.

Bonnie Watson Coleman. “This significant funding will play a crucial role in enhancing the safety and infrastructure of the city's roadways improving safety for pedestrians, motorists, and its residents.

The Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) funds regional, local, and Tribal initiatives through grants to prevent roadway deaths and serious injuries. The grant supports the U.S. Department of Transportation's National Roadway Safety Strategy and its goal of zero roadway deaths using a Safe System Approach. This year the $815 million in grants were awarded to 385 communities across the U.S.
