Congresswoman Watson Coleman Statement on the Failure of TrumpCare

WASHINGTON – Today, Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman (NJ-12) made the following statement following the Speaker Paul Ryan’s decision to bring H.R. 1628 “The American Health Care Act” to the House Floor for a vote:

“It looks like Speaker Ryan finally, albeit briefly, came to his senses in his decision to pull the vote on the GOP’s dangerous and inhumane health care bill. TrumpCare, as it stands, will cost 41,400 of my constituents their health coverage and the Republican cuts to Medicaid will devastate the most vulnerable in our communities. All the while our nation’s wealthiest will see massive tax breaks. Fortunately, due the outpouring of grassroots opposition across the country, a bipartisan majority recognized that Trumpcare was precisely the opposite of what Congress should be doing to address the health care challenges in our country. On both sides of the aisle, we need to focus on more important issues like strengthening the Affordable Care Act, creating jobs, and investigating the collusion that may exist between this Administration and our foreign adversary – Russia – rather than continuing these futile efforts to strip health coverage from millions of Americans.”
