Watson Coleman Named to Republican's Select Committee to Attack Women's Health
For Immediate Release
Washington, DC (November 4, 2015) ― Today, Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi announced the appointment of six Democratic Members of Congress to the Republican’s Select Committee to Attack Women’s Health, including Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman (NJ-12).
“This Committee is an affront to the hardworking American families who elected us to fight for policies that would move our nation forward ― things like wages that would help them make ends meet or an economy that works for everyone, not a taxpayer-funded inquisition into women’s health,” said Watson Coleman. “I had hoped that with a new Speaker and a so-called fresh start, Republicans would let go of their assault on women’s rights. But as long as their fight to take away vital preventive care and family planning services continues, I’ll be ready to expose the facts and bring the truth to light.”
“Even in her short time in Congress, Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman has already proven herself a ferocious champion for women and families,” said Leader Pelosi. “Drawing on her own trailblazing leadership in New Jersey, Watson Coleman has been a powerful voice in the Congress for women’s health and women’s opportunities. Her commitment to families and to facts will be invaluable as Democrats stand up for the truth against Republicans’ Select Committee to Attack Women’s Health.”
Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky of Illinois will serve as the Select Committee’s Ranking Member. Congressman Jerrold Nadler of New York, Congresswoman Diana DeGette of Colorado, Congresswoman Jackie Speier of California, and Congresswoman Suzan DelBene of Washington will also serve on the Committee.
