Rep. Watson Coleman Votes Against Republican Giveaway to Billionaires in Funding Bill
Today, Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman (NJ-12) voted against the GOP’s funding resolution that amounts to an unregulated slush fund for President Trump and Elon Musk. It cuts veterans benefits, it cuts housing, and it puts Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid at risk.
“Today’s vote was about handing over even more power from the people’s representatives to President Trump,” said Watson Coleman. “It absolves Congressional Republicans of the responsibility of governing. It tells Donald Trump, ‘Do whatever you feel is right, the needs of my constituents be damned.’ It is truly a pathetic yielding of power from Congress to the President.
“We already know Trump and Musk want to cut or even eliminate Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. Handing them more control of government funding puts our seniors, children, and disabled Americans at serious risk.”
Congresswoman Watson Coleman is instead endorsing Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro’s (CT-03) short-term continuing resolution to allow Congress to get back to work negotiating and passing funding bills that invest in America’s families and future and ensure the American people have a say in how federal funding is allocated.
