Rep. Watson Coleman Statement on Election Results
Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman (NJ-12) made the following statement regarding Tuesday night's election results:
Last night, voters here in Central Jersey and around the country sent a clear message:
We reject hate and division. We stand with our neighbors. We reject a violent, reckless foreign policy. We demand an economy where if you work hard, you can do well. Where the economy works for working people, not just the billionaires.
It has been one of the great honors of my life to serve you these past 12 years. When I was elected, I was the first Black woman to represent New Jersey in Congress.
Last night, the 12th District carries on that legacy, breaking another barrier and sending the first Muslim to Congress in state history. And so, it is my distinct honor to pass the torch to Dr. Adam Hamawy, the next Congressman from New Jersey’s 12th District.
