The State of PEPFAR During a Foreign Aid Funding Freeze

Congresswoman Robin Kelly and the Congressional Caucus on Black Women and Girls hosted a briefing to provide an update on PEPFAR, one of the most successful global health programs to combat HIV and AIDS. PEPFAR and its lifesaving services has been threatened by the Trump Administration’s executive order freezing all foreign aid funding.

While PEPFAR received a waiver to restart critical HIV services, many of its activities continue to be suspended indefinitely, including programs for girls, young women, orphans, and vulnerable children. This briefing brought together global health experts to discuss a plan forward.
