Caucus on Black Women and Girls Statement on Brittney Griner's Release
The co-chairs of the Congressional Caucus on Black Women and Girls issued the following statement on the release of Brittney Griner:
“After months of continued efforts, we are pleased to hear about the release of wrongfully detained Brittney Griner. We are relieved that Brittney Griner will finally return home and reunite with her family and those who love her.
“Throughout Griner’s wrongful detainment, the Caucus on Black Women and Girls has advocated in support of her release and spoken out against the unjust treatment Griner faced.
“We are grateful to those who kept fighting for her release and advocating on her behalf. We applaud the Biden administration for the tireless effort to secure Brittney Griner's safe release. Brittney Griner is a picture of strength and grace in the face of immense cruelty.
“As this difficult chapter in Brittney’s life ends and her horizons hold nothing but brighter tomorrows, let us continue our fight to secure the safety and dignity of Black women and girls at home and abroad."
