Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman (NJ-12) announced today that she will serve as Chair of the Subcommittee on Transportation and Maritime Security of the House Committee on Homeland Security. Watson Coleman has served on the Committee on Homeland Security since first joining Congress in 2015.

The Transportation and Maritime Security Subcommittee has legislative jurisdiction over the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) as well as oversight of the US Coast Guard. Subcommittee issues of interest include security across the global aviation system; security issues facing national surface transportation, including mass transit systems, railroads, highways and pipelines; and United States Coast Guard port and maritime security activities.

“I’m honored to Chair the Subcommittee on Transportation and Maritime Security,” said Watson Coleman. “My years working on the Homeland Security Committee under our Chairman Bennie Thompson have offered me a model of leadership. As Chair, I will work to ensure the safety and security of our transportation infrastructure as our country moves forward with plans to build back from the devastating effects of the Coronavirus Pandemic.”
